About  Frontier

Frontier was established in 1989 as a non-profit conservation and development organisation dedicated to safeguarding biodiversity and ecosystem integrity and building sustainable livelihoods for marginalised communities in the world’s poorest countries.

Offering over 300 projects in 57 countries globally, Frontier runs a vast range of projects.

Volunteers that take part in a Frontier project make an invaluable contribution to a global community and make a positive impact during their time on the project.

Frontier’s large range of capacity building projects are varied and flexible, and run by knowledgeable and committed staff.

Spoilt for choice!

Everyone’s unique budget and passions will be matched to a project ranging from adventure travel experiences, internships abroad, and conservation and community development projects.

A springboard to a career

We’re the only gap year organisation to offer BTEC qualifications to our volunteers and local partners. This is an invaluable qualification for those seeking a professional career in development or conservation.

Running since 1989, Frontier has deployed thousands of volunteers on projects around the world.

Combine adventure with volunteering

From going on safari to learning to sail, the range of projects is vast and will take you out of your comfort zone and make you a more confident and comfortable traveller. By combining adventure travel and volunteering you can ensure you have an amazing trip, but also give something back to the communities that have hosted your life changing experience.

Get qualified

Not only can you volunteer abroad with us, but we offer you the opportunity to formalise your training with a number of internationally recognised, endorsed and accredited qualifications. Get more out of your gap year, year out or career break with a range of qualifications to suit your career path.
