About Raleigh International
Raleigh International is a youth – led development charity that wants young people everywhere to be able to change the world. We believe that when young people and communities work alongside one another they are empowered to create lasting change.
For more than 30 years’ we have run Raleigh Expedition. Our Expeditions are 4, 5, 7 and 10-week programmes in Costa Rica, Nepal and Tanzania that engage volunteers in long lasting change on community, environmental and adventure leadership projects. These programmes help tackle environmental issues, access to education for all, and alleviate poverty. All our work contributes towards the sustainable development goals and safety is at the heart of everything we do.
Change Starts Here.
Be at the heart of change, working together with local people to find solutions to tackling some of the world’s problems.
Imagine a world where everyone has access to clean water and basic hygiene services & where everyone, even the most marginalised have access to education.
On our community projects you will be working together with local people and volunteers from all over the world and inspiring one another creates change that lasts.
Drive change where it’s needed the most by improving access to water and sanitation facilities or education in rural communities.
It’s not just building! Work with schools and people to change behaviours and raise awareness of issues such as handwashing and hygiene.
Water shouldn’t be a luxury and yet more than 750 million people lack adequate access to clean drinking water.
Education leads to opportunities. Imagine a world where everyone, even the most marginalised have access to education. Help us make this happen.
We don’t need to tell you that the world is facing unprecedented environmental challenges.
Our environmental projects aren’t a quick win but will last for years to come. They make small steps toward long term impact. Small changes now can mean big changes in the future.
You will take an active role in protecting natural resources and vulnerable environments whilst living and working in some of the world’s most biodiverse places.
You will be able to support conservation in national parks or on reforestation projects and build local knowledge to help people adapt to climate change and sustain rural resources.
Develop your leadership skills and learn about the power of team effort on the adventure leadership project.
Trek requires courage to venture outside your comfort zone, and there are highs and lows. Supporting one another through these moments, the friendships formed on trek are often some of the strongest on Expedition because of all that you have shared and learnt together.
You’ll build core skills, resilience and your determination to drive change knowing you can achieve so much more than you ever thought possible.
You’ll trek through a variety of different terrains; rainforests, mountains and communities.
You’ll go back to basics and become self-sufficient, switch off from technology & appreciate the environment we live in.
