About Give a Fig Volunteering (Aspiring Member)
We’re proud of the quality volunteering we offer, which includes excellent accommodation, and food at our HQ, the www.figandgecko.com hostel, and 24 hour support. We offer individual, group, and family volunteering, from 2 – 52 weeks; internships, and gap years – tailor it: own it. Our projects take place at the invitation of local people and to meet the local initiatives, be they of schools, or villages. Our unique projects offer you experiences of volunteering and of being immersed in a culture that will inspire you long after you’ve have returned home, and leave a mark that means you’ll be long remembered.
We are an aspiring member working towards full Year Out Group membership and welcome any queries about our programme management.
We’re Sri Lanka, and German Government volunteering programme partners, and in 2017, we became a Sri Lanka NGO
Whether teaching from pre-school through high school, to monks in their schools, in children’s homes, coaching English through sports and the arts, or building infrastructure such as toilets or painting classrooms and murals, you will have a unique and amazing experience.
With them and us, you’ll experience this beautiful safe and incredible tropical island. It is alive with wildlife, elephants live less than 30 minutes from us, and leopards and bear an hour. The Sri Lankan people are friendly and welcoming, which they express through their hospitality and vibrant culture, and the colourful festivals held throughout the year. And of course, the weather where we are is predominantly fantastic. Remember your sun screen!
You’ll love being here to explore, whether you are 16 or 60, here for 2 weeks or 52 weeks, whether you’re volunteering as an individual, or in a group, mapping out your own travel, or joining one of our tours, we’ll be with you every step of the way.

Give A Fig Volunteering provide fantastic fully supported Sri Lanka volunteering and internship opportunities for you to make a difference for both yourself and for Sri Lanka. We are happy to work with you to ensure a project focus for your skills, interests, qualifications, goals and time, and will support you with training whilst here.
