In brief

Our Chalet Host residential courses are designed for students who are interested in working a ski season as a chalet host and want to learn the key skills of the role. They are practical, hands-on courses that give students the practice, knowledge and confidence they need to apply for chalet host roles and make the most of a winter season.

The courses cover all the essential tasks with an emphasis on learning to cook. Students experience what it is really like to run a chalet, from preparing meals and hosting guests, to cleaning, budgeting, food hygiene, customer service and getting a job. The aim is to give students a realistic understanding of the role and help them feel prepared for the practical and personal challenges of a ski season in the mountains.

What students will learn

Students will develop a wide range of useful skills, including:
  • Preparing and cooking chalet-style meals, including breakfasts, afternoon tea, canapés and evening meals.
  • Understanding food hygiene, kitchen safety and practical cookery skills.
  • Catering for dietary requirements, children, larger groups and special occasions.
