This course travels through Italy four times a year, exploring all aspects of culture, such as history, music, politics, food, literature and philosophy – in addition to art and architecture.
Alongside studying the greatest masterpieces of Western civilisation, tutors will take students off the beaten track to unearth some of the secret wonders of Italy. The course visits Venice, Verona, Florence, Siena, Naples and Rome as well as many places in between.
A truly wonderful and complete experience of Italy.
This course travels through Italy three times a year, Spring, Autumn and Early Summer.
We’re using art and architecture to cover all subjects – be it history, art history, philosophy, politics, music and literature. For AHA, teaching students how to form a ‘habit’ of creativity is something we take very seriously, this is why we have numerous creative sessions incorporated, allowing students to experiment with watercolours, sketching, creative writing, paper marbling..
We hope to help students form new ideas and have the confidence to articulate them.
You will visit:
Venice, Castelfranco Bologna, Florence, Siena and Roma with day trips to San Gimignano, Verona, Naples, Pompei.
Our Gap Year is a wonderfully ambitious programme with interests that spread from the ancient world in Rome and Naples to the Renaissance in Florence and contemporary art in Venice. You will learn about Leonardo, appreciate Titian and understand why we should all know about Michelangelo. There are dozens of artists you will come to know as well as reading great poets, ancient and modern, understanding rhetoric and appreciating architecture, food culture.
It is bonkers to study art in a lecture room when you can go with AHA to study art on-site in small tutorial groups where everyone can see and join in discussions
AHA offers a course where the work of art and the student come joint first. The tutor is there to impart knowledge, frame information and foster discussion. The course is carefully constructed but, at the same time, we are interested in everything; drawings, contemporary art, conservation, gardens, music as well as painting, architecture and sculpture.
With AHA, looking at art and architecture becomes a visceral experience, which is powerful and exhilarating.
