About Pod Volunteer

Pod Volunteer is an award winning non-profit organisation that has been arranging ethical and inspiring volunteer placements around the world since 2001.

Our friendly team has a wealth of overseas volunteering and travel experience, and we pride ourselves on our project and location knowledge. From helping you to prepare for volunteering and travelling overseas, to providing 24/7 back up while you are away, we are here to support you.

As a non-profit organisation with associated charity, we keep costs down for volunteers and maximise financial donations for the projects. Each year we send over 600 volunteers around the world to support our projects!

We are focused exclusively on overseas volunteering.

It’s all we do and what we are passionate about and we’re driven by the needs of the projects we support.

Where can I volunteer?

We offer sustainable handpicked volunteering projects that have lasting and positive impact on the local community. We are focussed exclusively on overseas volunteering, it’s all we do and what are passionate about! Each year we send over 600 volunteers to support our projects around the world.

We have a range of great value placements at volunteer projects in Africa, Asia, Central and South America, which you can join for 1 week or many weeks.

A range of opportunities

Volunteers are needed to help on the following projects:

  • Animal Care
  • Wildlife Conservation
  • Marine Conservation
  • Education and Community
  • Building

Our volunteer placements are open to solo volunteers aged 18 years + and some volunteer placements also accept 17 years +. We also run special group lead placements for 16 and 17 year old volunteers each year.

Grow your skills

A placement with Pod Volunteer will not only develop your skills and confidence, it will also get you out of your comfort zone whilst exploring incredible parts of the world and gaining fantastic experience which looks great on your CV.

You can choose to complete PADI/SSI dive certifications whilst at our Marine Conservation projects or learn a language alongside volunteering.

Pod Volunteer is an Approved Activity Provider for The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award (DofE) and we offer participants the opportunity to achieve the Residential section of their Gold Award through volunteering at selected projects.

 Safety and Support

Pod Volunteer takes the health and safety of our volunteers, our staff and local people very seriously. We have a staged approach to managing the risks and health and safety implications that may be encountered in our locations and placements which includes assessments, preparation and management.

You will be supported by your dedicated Pod Volunteer Specialist who will help you throughout your volunteer journey.

We are active members of the Year Out Group, ABTOT, Responsible Travel, Right Tourism and the FCDO Travel Aware Campaign.

Pod charity

We support our projects through the Pod Charity (UK charity number 1139629) by providing financial assistance to overseas causes and so far the charity has raised over £100,000!
